Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the quality and quantity of traffic to a website from search engines such as Google, Bing. In simple words, SEO is the process of increasing organic traffic to your website. SEO is very important for websites to rank higher on Google Search Engine Results and get more traffic.

As a Digital marketing strategy, SEO considers how different search engines work, how search engines use keywords to find correct information from billions of web pages. Search engines use algorithms. For example, Google’s algorithm searches web pages that contain the keywords you used to search, then assigning rank to each page based on several factors, like how many times the keywords appear on the page. SEO needs to be performed because a website will receive more visitors from a search engine when websites rank higher on the search engine results page (SERP). These visitors can then potentially be converted into customers.

How does SEO work?

Search engines such as Google use crawlers also known as spiders to crawl pages on the web, going from site to site, collecting information about those pages and putting them in an index. After crawling and indexing, search engines analyze pages in the index, taking into account hundreds of ranking factors such as speed, backlinks, keyword usage, metadata, image size, to determine the order pages should appear in the search results for a given query. Based on the search engine’s analysis, your content might appear in organic search results, which means you can start bringing free and relevant traffic to your site!
